RECAP

It took slightly less that 15 hours for Adam Lamphere (Lansing, MI) to emerge victorious in the $350 Big Stack Black Chip Bounty event.  This one-day event was a freeze-out, which meant no re-entries, and that kept the field size down.  187 players took to the felt beginning at noon and shortly before 3am, it was all over.

The heads-up battle between Lamphere and local poker regular Jonah Miller (Miami, FL) was a bit one-sided.  At the start of heads-up play, Lamphere held more than 2 million chips to Miller’s 690,000.  Miller was never able to get any traction and after about 45 minutes, it was over.

Lamphere makes his living playing poker, but this is his first win in a live event.  He’s come close a few times before with three second place finishes.  For the win, he collects $11,218 and 13 bounties.  He also takes home the beautiful Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open trophy and a custom framed 16×20 photograph provided by IMPDI.

Jonah Miller’s second place finish was good for $6,171.  Finishing third in this event was three-time WSOP bracelet winner ‘Miami’ John Cernuto.  Another bracelet winner cashing in this event was Marsha Wolak, the 2011 WSOP Ladies Champion.  She finished 14th for $655.  The last woman remaining in this event and the only one to make the final table was Seminole Hard Rock Poker blogger Kaelaine Minton.  She finished 7th for $1,496.

With 187 players, the $50,000 Guarantee was covered, for a total prize pool of $56,100, including $18,700 in bounties.  The final 18 players made the money, but many more than that picked up bounties along the way.

Adam Lamphere started out as a poker dealer and learned the game as he worked.  The 27-year-old has been playing professionally for about 3 years.  “Thank the Lord for giving me the cards to play and the ability to play them,” Lamphere said.

This is his first trip to Florida to play poker, but it won’t be his last.  He read about this series online and decided to come down and check it out.  He’s going to stick around for the $1 Million Guaranteed event that starts Thursday and also the $10 Million Guaranteed Championship event.
