After another 10, 60-minute levels in the $3,500 WPT RRPO Championship event, the field played into the money and down to its final 52 players.
John DuBois finished the day as the chip leader and used a late surge to Brent Kallman for the chip lead. DuBois finished with 1,715,000 and Kallman, a member of the MLS’ Minnesota FC, bagged 1,645,000 to end the night.
Paul Balzano (1,400,000), Farid Jattin (1,380,000) and James Gilbert (1,350,000) round out the top five chip stacks. Other notables still alive include Joe McKeehen, Jonathan Jaffe, Joe Serock, Adam Hendrix, Kunal Patel, Vinny Pahuja, Phil Hui, Aaron Massey, and defending champion Michael Newman.
The day started with 333 players from the original 898-entry field and they made the money early in the eighth level of the day. Donovan Walker was eliminated by Rees Scruggs and the top 113 players finished in the money.
Everybody locked up at least $5,845 with the money bubble bursting. The top 52 players will return at noon on Monday to play five, 90-minute levels before bagging up for the night and returning on Tuesday to play down to the final six players.
Some of the notables that busted before the day was over, but finished in the money include Stephen Song, Dominique Mosley, Jeff Fielder, Matthew Yorra, Andy Philachack and Tony Sinishtaj.
Complete chip counts and seating assignments will be posted shortly.
