One of the brighter spots in today’s Event 7 field was Jamie Peters (Sunny Isles, FL). Jamie moved to Florida from West Virginia five years ago to attend law school in Miami and is now a practicing criminal defense lawyer.
She usually plays cash games in Las Vegas, but decided to give tournaments a try here at the Seminole Hard Rock “Rock ’N’ Roll” Poker Open. “It’s the best casino” she said about the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. “I love the nightlife – good nightlife here, for sure.”
“In my entire poker career, this is only my second [live] tournament,” she said about Event 7 today. She was the last woman remaining in Flight D and bagged 40,000 chips going to Day 2. “Honestly, I had a good time today. People were nice, no one was rude, it was refreshing. No one was trying to bully me, they were trying to help me” she said, referring to her situation as a relative novice playing touraments.
“I’m going to take on this tournament experience more seriously. I’m kinda switching from cash games over to tournaments. I’ll definitely be here [for][the][Championship][event],” she said.
