The Larry Frank Memorial Charity Event Champion Matthew Zarcadoolas

The Larry Frank Memorial Charity Event had 140 entries, and after pulling out the $15,000 for the prize pool, there was $24,200 raised in entry fees for Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida. (That’s in addition to all the money raised thru the auction and the silent auction.)

The tournament was won by Matthew Zarcadoolas winning a first-place prize of $5,000, a $1,000 chip leader bonus at the first break, and a $3,500 seat into the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship.

Charity Event Field

There were a record 78 entries when the cards went in the air at 7:10 pm, and registration remains open with unlimited $300 re-entries until the end of the first break, around 9:25 pm.

The chipleader at the first break will receive a $1,000 cash bonus.

The final nine players will finish in the money, winning both cash and donated prizes, including a $3,500 seat into the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship that begins tomorrow. Here are the cash payouts, with the additional prizes visible in the graphic below:

The cocktail party for the charity event is coming to an end, and the tournament will be starting soon. (It’s scheduled for 7:00 pm, but it’s a relaxed atmosphere and it may start a little late.)

Players begin with 10,000 in chips, and the blind levels are 15 minutes. They will be playing down to a winner this evening.

There will be a $1,000 cash bonus to the player with the most chips at the first break.

We are very excited to host the annual Larry Frank Memorial Charity Event, which will benefit Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida.

Larry Frank was a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Before passing in 2021, he worked for Seminole Gaming and Seminole Hard Rock Support Services for over 25 years in various roles, including General Manager of Poker Operations at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood and General Manager of Seminole Casino Classic.

We honor him with a charity tournament benefiting Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida. There will be a cocktail party starting at 5:30 pm and the $300 buy-in tournament will get underway at 7 pm. In addition to the tournament, there will be a silent auction with our friends from the Charity Series of Poker, with tons of great items up for bid.

Prizes include cash plus a $3,500 seat in the WPT Poker Showdown Champions and a $1,100 seat in the WPT Prime plus tons of other goodies. Check the banners below and come have fun for a great cause.

2024 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Event 57 Champion Jay Kerbel

Event 57 of the 2024 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open was a $400 Deep Stack Pot-Limit Omaha 8 (Re-Entry), drawing a field of 49 entries for a prize pool of $16,170. A three-handed deal was reached at the final table and Jay Kerbel was the chip leader, making him the Event 57 winner for $4,536.

This marked Kerbel’s fourth SHRP major series trophy, having previously won Omaha 8 events at the 2021 RRPO and the 2022 LHPO, along with a H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2024 LHPO.

Stewart Chantler, 2024 Larry Frank Memorial Charity Event champ

The 2nd Annual Larry Frank Memorial Charity Event, hosted by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood and the Charity Series of Poker, drew a fun 126 entries with thousands of dollars raised for the Make-a-Wish Foundation Southern Florida.

Stewart Chantler won the poker tournament, banking $5,000 in cash plus a $3,500 WPT Poker Showdown seat, but everyone involved in this great event is a winner in our book.

Larry Frank was a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Before he passed in 2021, he worked for Seminole Gaming and Seminole Hard Rock Support Services for more than 25 years in various roles, including General Manager of Poker Operations at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood and General Manager of Seminole Casino Classic.

Mr. Frank was key in building the current poker environment we enjoy in South Florida, in the background directing our biggest moves forward.

We honored his legacy by raising money for one of his favorite charities. Thank you to everyone for coming out!
